Raahgiri Day 18th June

Directions

The Event

Date: 18th June 2023

Time: 6am-9am

Location: Chandni Chowk Heritage Road (from Chandni Chowk Town Hall till Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib)

The world has the largest number of young people in history, with 1.8 billion individuals aged 10 to 24 years old. Investing in priorities for adolescents is crucial for building capabilities that contribute to sustained and inclusive societies and efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Unfortunately, many young people are underserved by current policies and financing.

The 1.8 Billion Young People for Change campaign aims to change that by advocating for adolescent well-being (AWB) and generating attention for youth issues in the build-up and during the SDG Summit in September 2023. This will be followed by a Global Forum for Adolescents (GFA) on October 11-12, 2023.

1.8 Billion Young People for Change is a multi-pronged advocacy campaign for adolescent well-being. The campaign builds momentum during key moments to engage different audiences – including young people, governments, civil society organizations and academia – in prioritizing adolescent well-being. It seeks to mobilize political commitments, resources, and country-level action. The campaign will culminate in the PMNCH Global Forum in October 2023, the world’s largest ever gathering for adolescent well-being.

A key milestone on route to the SDG summit and the GFA are G20 related events hosted with support from the Government of India in Delhi from 18th to 22nd June. Kicking off these events will be a 1.8 billion campaign ‘Raahgiri’ street closure. This will be a dynamic, youth-led public event giving visibility to the campaign at a time when key government, and INGO figures will be in Delhi. The event will take campaigning to the streets and will build momentum and support ahead of the SDG Summit and GFA.
