The National Road Safety Month 2025 campaign in transformative Gurugram initiative was aimed at addressing the pressing issue of road safety.
The activities were structured around the six pillars of road safety, known as the 6Es: Engineering, Education, Engagement, Enforcement, Emergency, and Evaluation. Key interventions included:
Engineering: Designed improvements to
high-risk intersections, installed 50 road signs, 13 rumble strips, and 40 zebra
crossings for pedestrians, to ensure safer road infrastructure.
Education: Road safety workshops, film screenings
Enforcement: Special traffic enforcement drives with challans on wrong side driving (14K), drunk driving (1.5K), and helmet usage (14K), were conducted throughout Gurugram
Emergency: Campaign for giving way to ambulance was conducted. 45 Green corridors were created by Gurugram Police, of which 9 were for ambulances.
Evaluation: Detailed reports (Gurugram Crash Report and Gurugram Vision Zero Report) on crashes, fatalities, injuries were produced that look at black spots and evaluate mitigation measures.
The campaign not only promoted awareness but also catalyzed behavioral changes in key focus areas such as reduced speeding, enhanced pedestrian and cyclist safety, and increased helmet usage. With active participation from all stakeholders and the general public, the campaign underscored the importance of collective responsibility in achieving road safety and awareness drives targeting 15+ schools, colleges, and workplaces, educating 5000+ participants on traffic rules and safe practices.
Engagement: Highly popular mega events, including Cyclothon, Road Safety Carnival, Bike rallies, street plays, mascots, sticker campaigns for No Honking (1000 Stickers) and Senior Citizens (200 Stickers), and social media campaigns, engaged citizens to advocate for safer roads. The National Road Safety Month 2025 in Gurugram successfully demonstrated the power of collaboration in tackling the critical issue of road safety and set a benchmark for future campaigns
