Breath of Change – Edition 1 | Ghaziabad

The first edition of Breath of Change, a capacity-building workshop under the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) Resource Lab, was hosted at Hindi Bhawan, Ghaziabad, marking the beginning of an inspiring journey toward cleaner air, healthier communities, and more livable cities.

The discussions centered on how people-centric street design, sustainable mobility, and community-driven action can shape cities that prioritize both air quality and human well-being.

We were honoured by the presence of Dr. S. D. Attri, Member (Technical), CAQM; Dr. Dhananjay Kumar, Scientist C, CAQM; and Mr. Ankit Singh, Regional Officer, UP Pollution Control Board, Ghaziabad, whose insights and encouragement added immense value to the workshop.

A special thanks to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) for leading this initiative, and to UPPCB Ghaziabad, Noida, and Greater Noida for their continued support.

The following day, the conversations came alive on the streets through the IEC Open Street event in Kamla Nehru Nagar, Ghaziabad — where learning met creativity, and awareness transformed into experience.

The street turned vibrant with music, theatre, laughter, and learning, engaging students from Adhyatmik Nagar Inter College, Dr. Ambedkar Inter College (Indergarh), and Kendriya Vidyalaya. Together, they discovered that awareness doesn’t have to come from lectures — it can be creative, playful, and deeply moving.

Students made music using bamboo instruments crafted from waste, walked through a Nature Zone, and even wove on a loom built entirely from plastic scraps. Sagar Singh’s team demonstrated how waste can tell meaningful stories, while Rahul Khanna’s street play powerfully reminded everyone that air pollution isn’t a distant issue — it’s here, it’s now, and it’s ours to act on.

From AQI checks to a street theatre class, every activity sparked curiosity and reflection. By the end, one message resonated clearly — awareness grows stronger when it’s experienced, not just explained.
