World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims 2024

Honouring Lives. Reaffirming Commitment. Reimagining Safer Streets.
As we marked 12 years of Raahgiri, we took a moment of collective pause to observe the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (WDoR) — a global day dedicated to honouring the millions of people who have lost their lives or been severely injured on the world’s roads.
This day serves as a powerful reminder that every life on our streets matters, and every road fatality is one too many. At Raahgiri Foundation, this belief guides our work every single day, driving our efforts to create streets that are safer, more humane, and more inclusive for all.

A Collective Tribute at Kanhai Chowk Urban Square, Gurugram
In collaboration with the District Administration Gurugram, Traffic Police of Gurugram, Haryana Police, and Nagarro, community members and stakeholders came together at Kanhai Chowk Urban Square to honour those who are no longer with us.
The gathering began with a solemn tribute to victims of road crashes, followed by a compelling street performance on road safety by the talented team of Rahul Khanna. The performance captured the urgency of safer mobility and the human cost of everyday road negligence — reminding everyone present why road safety must remain a shared priority.

Community Leadership at the Forefront
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to:
-
Traffic Police Gurugram
-
Road Safety Officers – Ms. Keshika and Mr. Girish
-
Local community members, volunteers, and the Raahgiri team
Their continued commitment and on-ground leadership play a crucial role in advocating for #SaferStreets and building a culture of responsibility, empathy, and awareness.

Our Commitment Moving Forward
As we reflect on 12 impactful years of Raahgiri, this day reinforces our mission — to transform streets into public spaces where people can walk, cycle, play, commute, and live safely. We remain dedicated to working with the government, partners, and communities to reduce road fatalities and champion people-first urban design.
Because no loss on the road is acceptable. And safer streets are not an option — they are a necessity.
