Building Safer, Healthier, and More Livable Cities

The fourth edition of Breath of Change was recently organized in Faridabad, bringing together policymakers, experts, and citizens to strengthen collective action for cleaner air and safer streets. The initiative was led by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) Resource Lab Team (Raahgiri Foundation) in collaboration with the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) and Nagarro.

The event was graced by distinguished guests including Sh. Dhirendra Khadgata, IAS, Municipal Commissioner, Faridabad; Dr. Dhananjay Kumar, Scientist C, CAQM; Dr. Ramesh Kumar, Scientist, CAQM; and Ms. Shruti Malhotra, CAQM.

The two-day programme was thoughtfully designed to combine capacity building, community engagement, and on-ground learning:

Day 1: Focused on a capacity-building workshop that encouraged dialogue and collaboration on urban air quality, sustainable transport, and road safety.

Day 2: Featured an Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activity at the Model Street – Sanath, Sector 18, Gurugram, where participants experienced people-friendly street design in action.

Over 120 participants—including government officials, engineers, educators, and citizens—actively engaged in the sessions.

The activities included: Screening of the short film “Ek Sadak Ki Kahani”, Site-based exercises and group presentations, Interactive discussions through Mentimeter and experiential learning games such as “What’s Your Walk Count?”, and The VayuMitra Pledge, reinforcing commitment to clean air and sustainable mobility.

The fourth edition of Breath of Change served as an inspiring reminder that cleaner air and safer roads go hand in hand. Each conversation, exercise, and pledge brought participants one step closer to realizing the shared vision of cities that are safer, healthier, and truly people-friendly.
